In celebration of my 20th year in fabric design, I took a look back at the

inspirations behind my very first collection, Bohemian, released in 2005.

While there are no direct reprints, Rhapsody gave me the chance to revisit

those original muses: leopard prints, exotic florals, hand-painted tile work

and ceramics, and tapestries. They were simply things I loved then, and as

it turns out, I still love them now. But with time comes experience, a more

practiced hand, a more seasoned eye, and a deeper connection to those

sources of beauty. I now can take those inspirations and create something

that feels closer to what is in my mind and heart. Rhapsody is not just a

nod to where I began, but a bookmark of where I am now as an artist and

quilter. The prints are large and small, expressive, painterly, and personal. I

also created a special limited-edition "Anniversary Vases" motif featuring 20

vases adorned with designs from over the years. It is a meaningful piece of

the Rhapsody Quilt and a celebration all its own.

The Rhapsody Quilt is a celebration of my twenty years in fabric design, but also

an expression of love. I love art. I love flowers. I love making quilts. And this quilt

makes no apologies for any of it. I have also loved sharing my journey with YOU.

So let's begin the next twenty years with my first AMT Block of the Month program.

The Rhapsody Quilt is a collage of 20 Anniversary Vases-some framed individually

as works of art, others overflowing with floral applique-all set within traditional

9-patches and Quarter Square Triangles. The Rhapsody pattern will provide guidance

for applique, whether the quilter wants to perform the stitching by hand or machine.

The Rhapsody Block of the Month is an exciting program full of creative and skill-building opportunities, designed to explore color and applique with Anna Maria. The Rhapsody collection of fabrics was developed specifically for this quilt, making the applique cutting process feel intuitive and natural. The pattern is divided into five parts and will provide detailed fabric cutting guidance, along with applique methods suitable for both hand and machine work. While the pattern is comprehensive and includes two templates, Anna Maria will also provide a free monthly video for BOM participants to highlight key techniques and offer added insight for extra confidence.
