"Boat Race is a fabric collection about the kind of summer childhood that feels

almost impossible now — long afternoons outside with nowhere to be, making

tiny boats from sticks and patchwork sails and racing them down the stream be-

hind the house. Some floated beautifully. Many sank immediately. None of that

mattered.


The prints in this collection are little snapshots of those days: camping trips and

sleeping bags, sun-warmed rocks and cold lakes, bright green grass under bare

feet, blue skies, yellow sunshine, and the particular magic of being small in sum-

mertime. I added ginghams throughout because I wanted the whole collection to

feel like a picnic blanket spread out in the grass — cheerful, nostalgic, and made

for gathering together.
